Dr. Brian Sando OAM
MB, BS, FRACGP, FASMF, FACSP(Hon)
Consults in sports medicine at Wakefield Sports Clinic and
in executive health at Corporate Health Group. Sports Medicine experiences
have included: Medical Officer to seven Australian Olympic teams,
four as Senior Medical Director Medical Director to three Australian
Commonwealth Games teams Senior Medical Officer Adelaide (Crows)
Football Club from its 1991 inception to 2006, preceded
by 26 years with Norwood Football Club; Australian Swimming Team
Medical Officer for 12 years and also to Australian Davis Cup and
Athletics teams Chairman - Australian Sports Drug Agency
Currently:
Chairman – Australian Olympic Committee Medical Commission
Board member; Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority Member
of the Medical Commission & Commonwealth Games Federation Member
of FINA Doping Control Review Board. Enjoys watching most sports,
walking and jogging for fitness and the occasional round of
golf. |

Alison Kitson RN, BSc(Hons), DPhil,
FRCN
Professor and Head of Discipline of Nursing, University
of Adelaide Supernumerary Fellow, Green Templeton College, University
of Oxford Alison Kitson took up the post of Professor of Nursing
and Head of Discipline at the University of Adelaide at the beginning
of 2009. Prior to this she was the Royal Adelaide Hospital Nursing
Education Fund Inaugural Fellow and has worked closely with interdisciplinary
teams around improving the fundamentals of care for older people
going through the acute hospital setting. She has a long career in
nursing and her research interests include getting evidence and innovations
into everyday practice. Effective leadership is a key part of this.
She holds many honorary positions internationally and has published
extensively on the subject of implementing evidence into practice.
She has also held several executive roles, most recently Executive
Director of Nursing at the Royal College of Nursing in the UK. Her
links with Green Templeton College span almost two decades, where
she was the first Junior Research Fellow in Nursing to be appointed
to the College. |

Dr. Justin Porter B.Sc, BM.BS, FANZCA
Dr Porter is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at the Royal Adelaide
Hospital where he is responsible for the teaching and audit of
the Regional Anaesthesia program. He is also in private practice
with Specialist Anaesthetic Services where his focus is on Joint
Replacement and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. He is a regular teacher
at Ultrasound and Regional Anaesthesia conferences and workshops. |

Associate Professor Tony Pohl is the Director of Orthopaedic Trauma
at Royal Adelaide Hospital and is an Associate Professor in the Department
of Orthopaedics and Trauma, University of Adelaide.
Having completed
his basic medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand,
in Johannesburg, South Africa, Associate Prof Pohl immigrated to
Australia 30 years ago. He completed the Advanced Orthopaedic training
program in Adelaide in 1987, before taking a full time position at
Royal Adelaide Hospital and was awarded his Doctorate of Medicine
at the University of Adelaide in 1991.
He has a major interest in
pelvic and acetabular fractures, fracture healing and external fixation
of fractures, an active involvement in instrument design and technology
and an avid interest in teaching. On nine occasions since 1990 Associate
Professor Pohl has been the recipient of the Mark Bonnin Prize, (voted
best clinical teacher, Adelaide University Medical Faculty). |

Nicola is a Clinical Nurse, Operating Room Service at the Royal Adelaide
Hospital. She is also Chairperson AO ORP Trauma courses, Member Alumni Executive
committee AO Group and ORP Faculty member . |

Dr Meng Ling B.M.B.S., F.R.A.C.S. (Ortho)
Dr Ling commenced with Orthopaedics SA (OSA) after completing
his Clinical Fellowship in Upper Limb Surgery in 2007 at the Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery, Queens University, Kingston Ontario, Canada.
Whilst in North America, Meng also attended various workshops, courses
and short term visitations in the US, working with well respected
US surgeons, specialising in Arthroscopic, Sports Injury and Knee
Surgery.
Meng graduated from Flinders University in 1996 and completed
his Orthopaedic training and obtained fellowship of the Royal Australian
College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2007. Meng is
a Visiting Medical Specialist with the Southern Adelaide Health
Service. He currently conducts Joint Replacement surgery and clinics
at the Repatriation General Hospital as well as Upper Limb, Sports
Injury, Trauma surgery and clinics at Flinders Medical Centre. With
a principal interest in Upper Limb pathology, Sports Injury and Joint
Replacement (Shoulder, Hip and Knee) Meng is also experienced in
both adult and paediatric trauma surgery.
